Pluripotent ES/iPS stem cell culture methods often use feeder cells to maintain an undifferentiated state. Feeder cells provide essential nutrients and other complex molecules, such as cytokines and growth factors that support healthy cell culture while preventing cell differentiation. Traditionally, mouse feeder cells have been used to maintain pluripotent cells in culture.
The quality of feeder cells is a critical factor in maintaining stem cell pluripotency. Lot-to-lot consistency must be tightly controlled through well-established, robust manufacturing practices. Our mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEF) are available in a variety of configurations, to ensure successful culture conditions in your laboratory. MTI-Globalstem MEF are mitotically inactivated by irradiation or chemical treatment, or are available untreated. Our MEF do not require gelatin coating of plates prior to use.
